Other washing machines errors, lights and symbols

When your Bosch washing machine has detected a problem, it will display an error or flash a symbol or light. It can be difficult to make sense of these errors, symbols, and lights, so we have listed below the most common ones, what they mean and how to resolve them.

Error code

What it means

How to resolve it
Key symbol The child lock is activated. Click here for information on how to deactivate the child lock for your Bosch washing machine.
Tap symbol The water pressure is too low or the supply hose is blocked or kinked. Check the water pressure directly from the tap using a bucket. Contact your fitter if the water pressure is too low. Make sure the supply hose is also clear and not kinked.
E16 The door is not locked properly. Laundry may be caught in the door. Open and close the door again and press the "start reload" button (play and pause button). If necessary, open the washing machine door, remove some of the cothing items and then push the door closed again. You can also try switching the washing machine off and on again, setting the programme and then starting the programme. Click here for information on what to do if your washing machine door is not opening or closing properly.
E18 The filter is blocked or the drain hose is blocked or kinked. Click here for information on how to unblock your washing machine filter and unblock and unkink the drain hose.
E23 The washing machine is leaking or there is water in the base plate. If you suspect a leak from your washing machine, turn off the supply tap immediately. Click here for more information on what to do to resolve a leaking washing machine.
E32 The washing machine flashes alternately with "end" at the end of the programme. This is not a fault. The unbalanced load detection system has interrupted the spin cycle because the laundry is unevenly distributed. Distribute small and large items of washing in the drum. If required, spin the laundry once more.
E33 Excess foam has been detected. Reduce the detergent dosage. Particularly in soft water areas and when washing only slightly soiled washing, the amount of detergent should be reduced accodingly. Cick here for more information on how much detergent you should use in your washing machine.
