When you buy a Bosch Microplastic Filter, you’ll not only trap up to 97% of microplastics3 but also prevent natural fibres, hair as well as detergent residues from polluting waterways.
Don’t let what goes down the drain enter the food chain
Did you know that plastic from your laundry often lands on your plate? It’s true. Research shows that on average, we all consume some 5g – about the size of a credit card – of the stuff per week1. Here’s how it happens and what you can do to prevent it:
Our solution to plastic pollution
With the Bosch Microplastic Filter you can start a sea change, one wash at a time. It traps microfibres before they get into the water system and impact marine – and human – health.
Microplastics, macro problem
During a laundry cycle, friction from the washing action causes synthetic textiles to shed up to 700,000 tiny plastic microfibres2. After your machine drains, they’re emptied into rivers and, eventually, the ocean. In this way, microplastics contaminate our drinking water, food and even salt. When we consume those things, the plastic accumulates in our bodies.
Keep plastics – and our planet – out of deep water

We’ve put together the the key facts and figures for you to view at a glance, here:
- Dimensions (length x width x height): 360 mm x 165 mm x 180 mm
- Full operating power: ≤ 35 W
- Noise level: 60db (A) during self-cleaning (10 sec x ~3-5 per cycle)
- Recyclable materials: 69% of the input materials are recyclable
When well maintained and regularly emptied, your filter is designed to last for the same lifespan – or number of laundry cycles – as our washing machines. No replacement cartridges are needed.
Since the filter comprises 69% recyclable materials, it can be used to create new products.
Connecting the Bosch Microplastic Filter to your washing machine is simple enough to do yourself. You don’t need screws, bolts or nails to fix it and can position it almost anywhere around your washing machine as long as it’s between 12 and 100cm above ground level.
The filter will work with any washing machine brand and can even be fitted to older appliances.
Don't just take our word for it
Easy to set up, works well
We've been using this for a few weeks and have just emptied for the first time. I'm impressed with how much has been captured! This comes with two jubilee clips and if you're plumbing into an under sink connection, you're going to want three- fortunately, I had one spare. We were fitting in a small under sink cupboard, so I was worried about having too much pipework or leaks whilst emptying. Neither have been an issue. Two tiny drops of water on the machine when detaching the front part to empty, nothing leaking on the shelf at all. Very easy to fit and use - I've previously had a plastic microfilter with replaceable filters inside, and this is so much easier. The unit does make quite a variety of noises- nothing particularly loud. Overall, very impressed so far.Microplastics buster
This is a great piece of kit. Very simple to set up, retrospectively to any washing machine, and even simpler to operate, just switch it on! The grey slab represents approximately 10days of washing for a family of 4. Now think about where that would go without the filter and multiple a global population…..we have a microplastics problem. With this little gizmo we can each help to reduce that amount.Great little device
Have been using the filter a couple of weeks now and it's very satisfactory to see the plastic lint being collected. The filter is easy to install, use and to clean. The first time opening the drawer was a bit hard but that was probably because it was new and a bit stiff. It feels a bit strange to dump the debris in the waste bin, any suggestions what else to do with it are welcome.Took a while, but worth the wait.
Backing the „Gulp“ from minute one. Took a while with ups and downs but finally it is here. Even though I am a Bosch household and it’s a Siemens appliance. But it does not state big brand names on the appliance itself. So it does not matter at all. Installation was quick. Now waiting for the first washes to go through. Looking good so far. Thanks Matter. Good job.The best microplastic filter out there!
Easy to install, no consumables and it works! I've tried a few other microplastic filters over the last few years, but quickly stop using them. Now with over 100 washes the Bosch Microplastic Filter continues to filter lots of microplastics. Great piece of tech!Easy to use, and appears effective
Have been running one of these for a few months now, and has gone for almost 70 wash cycles. Works well, easy to clean and service when needed, easy to set up first time too. Feels satisfying to dump the fibre sludge into the bin rather than letting it wash down with the waste water.
