There is nothing quite like an invigorating and warming cup of a coffee.

But just like food and cuisine, coffee culture varies drastically around the world. So whether you’re travelling this summer or enjoying a staycation, in this blog we’ll help you explore the diverse world of coffee.

Learn how different countries enjoy their coffee and how you can recreate them at home with your Tassimo machine.

Egypt – Arabic Coffee

In Egypt, Arabic coffee (or Turkish coffee) is a staple. It is strong dark coffee boiled in a pot and served in small demitasse cups. If you enjoy a stronger coffee, the bold flavour of Arabic coffee will be perfect for you. So give it a try if you are travelling over to Egypt this summer.

Alternatively, with your Tassimo machine, you can easily recreate this experience by selecting a strong, intense blend and using the Intensity Boost button to recreate the authentic taste of Arabic coffee.

Italy – Cappuccino Culture

Perhaps the most well known for its coffee – Italy. In particular the cappuccino, which is culturally enjoyed only in the morning (you may receive some looks of confusion if you order a cappuccino after lunch!).

The cappuccino is an espresso-based drink, finished with steamed milk and foam. You can recreate an Italian coffee morning at home with your Tassimo machine by selecting a cappuccino pod and enjoying it with a pastry, just like the Italians do.

France – Café au Lait

In France, the café au lait, or coffee with hot milk, is a morning favourite often enjoyed with a plain croissant. A creamy, comforting beverage that can be easily prepared with your Tassimo Finesse Friendly machine. Simply choose a latte pod and add a touch of milk for an authentic French experience.

Austria – Wiener Mélange

Austria’s traditional coffee drink is the Wiener Mélange, similar to a cappuccino but sometimes topped with whipped cream. You can enjoy this delicious and indulgent treat at home by popping a cappuccino pod into your Tassimo machine and adding a dollop of whipped cream to recreate this Viennese favourite.

Greece – Frappé

In Greece, the frappé is a popular choice especially in the summer. It’s an iced coffee drink which is both refreshing and invigorating. You may not find these typically in countries like Spain or Italy. But you can enjoy one here at home if you can’t make it over to Greece this summer.

While Tassimo machines don’t typically make frappés, you can brew a strong coffee and pour it over ice for a similar experience – perfect for those warmer summer mornings in the UK.

Mexico – Café de Olla

Mexican café de olla is a unique coffee brewed in clay pots with cinnamon sticks and piloncillo (raw sugar cane) for a bold, distinctive flavour.

To replicate this at home, brew a rich coffee with your Tassimo machine and add a dash of cinnamon and brown sugar for a taste of Mexico!

Flat white coffee cup

Australia – Flat White

The Australians are the creators of the flat white, a coffee similar to a latte but with a stronger coffee-to-milk ratio. It’s a great balance between a rich and strong coffee, or milky, creamier option. And it can easily be made with your Tassimo machine by selecting a latte pod and adjusting the intensity to get that perfect balance of bold coffee and creamy milk.

So, there you have it – with a Tassimo Finesse Friendly machine on hand you are never far away from your favourite holiday destinations.
