Sustainable coffee one cup at a time

People using tassimo machine

We should all take a moment to appreciate how humbly warming and energising that first cup of coffee in the morning can be, especially in October - the month that hosts International Coffee Day.

Homemade coffee is fast becoming a firm fixture in the cultural zeitgeist - as we compete for the most aesthetically pleasing, deliciously flavoured, sustainable coffee. And we all know exactly how we like ours.

But as we grow more and more aware of the impact our everyday luxuries have on our environment, it’s important that we’re mindful about how sustainable that seemingly innocuous morning cup can be.

Thankfully, the Tassimo could be the answer to all these concerns.

Cost-efficient, high-quality coffee that is sustainable and environmentally friendly. This blog will walk you through some of the biggest benefits and features of the Tassimo machine to make sure your investment is worth every penny.

Tassimo pouches

How cost-efficient is Tassimo?

Let’s start with one of the most intriguing features of the Tassimo; its versatility! The range of drinks the Tassimo gives you in the comfort of your own home is that to rival your local coffee shop.

Compatible with up to 50 brands including L’Or, Kenco, Cadbury, (and not just coffee – tea and hot chocolate, plus iced coffee) there is something for every mood and every family member.

And, if you’re a fan of a coffee flavoured dessert (Tiramisu, anyone?!), use your Tassimo to create the ultimate homemade desserts including cheesecake and swiss roll. Grab the recipes here.

Affogato cup

Don’t miss out on our infamous Affogato recipe too. The possibilities are endless!

Plus, if you’re more of a cocktail connoisseur than a dessert person, you can master the ultimate at-home Espresso Martini too! Just the cost savings alone make the Tassimo one of the most versatile and cost-effective investments you can make for your kitchen.

Pod disposal

How do I dispose of pods? Are they sustainable?

Tassimo is in partnership with Podback which guarantees responsible recycling of your used pods. Podback is a pod recycling service which is designed to make recycling coffee pods as easy as possible.

A Podback bag is added to every order made through the website. Simply fill the Podback bag with your empty pods (it will fit about 60 used pods in) when you’re done. Then, all you need to do is register for either a Kerbside pick up, so you can leave your bags out front with your household rubbish, or drop off at any of the Podback recycling drop off locations (over 7,000 stores nationwide). Once collected the pods are taken to a specialist reprocessing plant and the used coffee grounds are then used to create soil improver and renewable energy, plastic and aluminium is transformed into new products such as cans and garden furniture.

Using Tassimo

We are all attempting to do our bit to save money, lead more sustainable lives and even improve our homes. Whether it’s working from home, entertaining, or simply enjoying your new kitchen, more of us are leaning towards the practice of making barista style coffee at home. Whilst we save on single use cups, petrol and money, it’s also morally comforting to know where our coffee has been sourced and that every last part is being recycled responsibly.
