Clothes are not clean

Possible cause Resolution
The washing machine drum is overloaded. Overloading the washing machine will cause the laundry to move around in one large mass, which means the clothing items will not move be able to move freely within the drum and the detergent will not be able to circulate effectively to remove dirt and stains. Not enough detergent has been used. Not using enough detergent could mean that your clothes are not being cleaned properly. Ensure that you are filling the detergent drawer up to the marked line on the inside surface of the drawer, or if you are using a dosing ball make sure that it is filled up to the correct measurement line on the outside of the ball. Read the detergent manufacturer's instructions if you are unsure. Remember that there are situations where you might need to use more detergent that the recommended amount. The wrong detergent has been used. Not using the correct type of detergent could also have a negative effect on washing performance. Ensure that you are using the correct type of detergent depending on your washing load, whether it's whites, coloureds or darks. For more information on which detergent you should use click here.
The wrong programme has been used. It's really important to use the correct washing programme for your specific load to ensure optimum washing performance. There are, for instance, some washing programmes which take less time to complete and use a lower water temperature such as 30°C, however these particular programmes are only suitable for lightly soiled clothes. If these programmes are used to clean large, heavily soiled loads, they won't be effective at removing all dirt and stains. Consult your instruction manual to find out which programmes are available on your Bosch washing machine and for which loads they should be used. A maintenance wash has not been carried out. If there is a lingering bad odour in the drum of your washing machine, this can be easily transferred over to your clothes during a wash programme. This bad odour is usually the result of a build up of dirt from previous washes and even from mould developing in the door seal. Washing machines are not self-cleaning and so they require a regular maintenance wash at least every three months. For more information on how to clean your washing machine click here.
The washing machine is not heating the water. If your washing machine is not heating up the water to the correct temperature, or it is not heating up the water at all, this will have a severe effect on your washing machine's ability to lift dirt and stains from your clothes. For more information on what to do if you suspect that your washing machine is not heating the water click here.
The filter is blocked. A full or partial blockage in the filter or pump will affect your washing machines ability to drain water from the drum. This will lead to poor rinsing results and poorly washed clothes as a result. Before you start a programme, clean the filter and remove any foreign objects which could be blocking the impeller.
