Tumble dryer is not spinning

If your tumble dryer has stopped spinning or turning, don’t panic. There are a few checks which you can perform to see if the problem is something more obvious than expected.

Check that the door closes properly

If the appliance door hasn’t been closed properly, this will prevent the program from starting due to safety reasons. If the door does not shut firmly, please book an engineer visit.

Check the drive belt

The drive belt wraps around the drum and the drive motor and over time due to wear it can get damaged. You can quickly check if the belt is broken by reaching into the dryer and turning the drum by hand – if the drum turns very easily, this means that the belt is likely broken and will need to be replaced. In this case, we recommend booking an engineer visit to have the appliance inspected and the fault professionally addressed.

The drum rollers might be worn out

These are small metal wheels attached to the exterior side of the drum that support the spinning movement of the dryer. If the rollers have been worn, we recommend booking an engineer visit. Worn drum rollers tend to make grinding noises.
