Clothes are soaking wet

From time to time, there may be an issue with your washing machine which means your laundry comes out wet.

There are a number of reasons for why this may be happening. To resolve the issue, please follow the advice shown in the video to the left or consult the list of fixes below.

washing machine not spinning

The washing machine is not spinning

The most common cause for clothes coming out of the drum soaking wet at the end of the cycle is a washing machine that is either not spinning at the optimum spin speed, or not spinning at all.

There are a few possible causes which might explain why your washing machine is not spinning, and for more information on how to resolve these faults, click the link below.

which washing machine programme should i use

The wrong programme has been used

It is important you use the right washing machine programme for the best performance. There are, for instance, some washing programmes which use slower spin speeds such as 600 rpm, however these particular programmes are only suitable for delicate clothes. If these programmes are used to clean large loads consisting of mostly hard-wearing clothes, they won't be effective at rinsing excess water out of them. Consult your instruction manual to find out which programmes are available on your Bosch washing machine. For more information on the programmes that can be found on our Bosch washing machines, click the link below.

blocked drain hose washing machine

The waste water hose is kinked or blocked

A kink or blockage in the waste water hose will affect the ability of your washing machine to drain water from the drum. Check that there are no kinks in the waste water hose by pulling the appliance out slightly and untwisting any visable kinks or bends in this hose. For more information on how to correctly install the waste water hose, click the link below. Also ensure that the waste water hose is not blocked by removing this hose from the siphon connection, putting the end of the hose in a bucket and selecting the drain programme. If there is a blockage, water will not fill, or struggle to fill, the bucket. If a blockage is found, clean the waste water hose and siphon.

unbalanced washing machine load

The washing load is unbalanced

If the washing load is unbalanced, for example if the drum is underloaded and all of the clothes are over to one side of the drum, this can cause problems for the washing machine to be able to drain excess water out of them effectively.

blocked washing machine filter

The filter is blocked

A full or partial blockage in the filter or pump will affect your washing machines ability to drain water from the drum. This will lead to poor rinsing results and soaking wet clothes at the end of the cycle. Before you start a programme, clean the filter and remove any foreign objects which could be blocking the impeller.
